A society is the simplest form of a Non-Governmental Organisation in India and can be registered to operate on state level or national level for educational, charitable, religious, welfare or for promotion of art, music, culture, etc under The Societies Registration Act, 1860. societies are set up for purposes that promote and help activities.
There are two types of society, one is National Level Society, and another one is State Level Society. Minimum of seven people must come together with a common purpose of being formed into society. However, in the case of national level society, the members / desirous person must represent from seven different states.
1. State Vs National: Minimum 7 Persons are Required to form a society however for national level they must represent seven different states.
2. No Distribution of Profit: The profits Generated in the Society cannot be Distributed to its Members.
3. No Blood Relatives: There Should not be any Blood Relations Between the Founders, Members of Society. The president of the society has to give an affidavit to this effect that there is no blood relative in the Society.

Step -1 Arrange all Required Documents:
The first step is to arrange all the documents and send the same over the email / WhatsApp to us. Once all the Documents are Received, we will Start the Further Process.
Step -2 Name Selection: The Next Step is to Select the unique name of your Society. The name should not violate someone else name or trademark. The president of the proposed society shall file an affidavit that the name is not same or similar to any other NGO.
Step-3: Preparation of Documents: The Next Step is Preparation of Documents such as MOA and Bye Laws of Society to be Submitted at Department.
Step-4: Registration of Society: The Next Step is Submission of an application along with the signed MOA, by rules, affidavits and KYC documents of desirous person and officials. After verification of documents the Certificate of Registration of Society is issued.
Step-5: Issuance of Pan and Tan: The next step is to apply for allotment of Pan Number and TAN and thereafter opening of a bank A/c for collection of membership fees, subscription charges or donations as the case may be.

No, societies are formed to serve society and not to earn profits.

No, Blood Relatives cannot Become Members of Same Society.

Seven Persons are required to Form a Society at State Level, However, in the case of national level society, 7 Persons Forming Society must be from different States.
